Organized jointly by departments of Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication,
and Instrumentation Engineering of VPM's Maharshi Parashuram College of
Engineering, Velneshwar.

Vidya Prasarak Mandal's new mega
educational project viz. Maharshi Parshuam College
of Engineering at Velneshwar, Taluka Guhagar, District
Ratnagiri, was commissioned from the academic year
2012. Some of the premises viz. Academic Building
No.1 (Shripati), VPM's Administrative Office, Nana
Phadanvis Auditorium, Canteen Building and Central
Server building were inaugurated on 24th April 2012.
Now, the inauguration of Academic Building No. 2 (Bhaskaracharya - 2), Multi-utility buildings (Vividha),
Guest house (Aparanta),
Electric Sub Station, Sports Complex and Main Entrance
building was held on Monday,
the 15th April 2013 at 5.00 pm.
Velneshwar College Campus is well equipped with advanced infrastructure and facilities
right from solar energy to Wi Fi connection. The total
cost of this entire project is Rs. 150 crores, which
comprises of a total of 36 buildings (nearly 6,00,000
sq.ft.), as per the Master Plan. In the 1st phase,
we are constructing 23 buildings (nearly 3.50,000
sq. ft), out of which 17 buildings are 100% complete
in all respects. We have spent about Rs. 60 crores
on this project so far.

Report on Sports and Cultural
events at MPCOE, Velneshwar during last week
of February 2013
Our students of Engineering at MPCOE, Velneshwar are rigorously pursuing their goal of Bachelor of Engineering. The second semester of their first year started from 7 January ’13 and continued uninterrupted till their first Internal Assessment during 16 – 19 February ’13.
Then it was time for a short break because as the saying goes, ‘Healthy mind resides in a healthy body’. To ensure that our students do not ignore other important aspects of their personality, we hosted Sports and Cultural events during 26 – 28 February ’13. Outdoor events like box cricket, football, volleyball, treasure hunt, and athletics, and Indoor games like carom and chess witnessed enthusiastic participation from boys and girls. Besides, Science Quiz, Essay writing, and Elocution contests were also arranged. In other words, students were given a variety of events to exhibit their talent that was hitherto unknown to their colleagues and teachers.
Faculty and staff were also encouraged to take part in some events like box cricket. The 3-day break ended with a cultural evening on 28 February ’13 in the grand Nana Phadnis hall of the college. An orchestra of local musicians was arranged to accompany the singing and dancing items of students and staff. Highlight of the cultural evening was the awe inspiring and spectacular ‘Samai or Lamp dance’ by the local housekeeping girls of the college. It is in keeping with the thinking of the management to harness the skills and talents of the local employees, and provide them opportunities for showcasing the same in front of others.
Apart from the lamp dance, there were displays of talents in singing, dancing, recital of poems and skit. Students and staff took part in equal measure. Fish pond and musical pond were other attractions of the evening. The anchoring for the evening was done by the students.
Winners of different sports, athletics, and other contests held in college were given away their certificates by the Director Dr K D Desai, Principal Dr Chincholkar, and faculty members. All in all it was a disciplined and memorable event for and by the first batch of students of MPCOE Velneshwar.
